054 - Bugonia, Dir. Yorgos Lanthimos
Bruce Springsteen is a cultural and musical Icon of his time. A Rockstar that wrote and sang for the common man, the blue-collar worker. His name is one that people know and time will never forget.
Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere is a very small piece of that timeline, set in the years before "Born in the USA" while working on his "Nebraska" album adapted from the novel by Warren Zanes. The catch to this film? It's a much slower look into those years and his almost crippling depression. Jeremy Allen White is fantastic, as always, along with his supporting cast. Springsteen fans will enjoy this.

052 - Black Phone 2, Dir. Scott Derrickson
The Black Phone (2021) was a solid mix of elements that made a smart, supernatural and atmospheric thriller that kept you on the edge of your seat.
Black Phone 2 (2025) adds to the lore with the same cast of characters plus a few more in a isolated story at a lake where the supernatural allows for a great villain to once again terrorize his victims. Is it as good as the original? Probably not. Is it a good Black Phone movie? Yes. Like Tron, you will love the visuals and the sound, along with the many homages to the 80's.

051 - Tron: Ares, Dir. Joachim Ronning
Tron (1982) and Tron Legacy (2010) left some pretty big shoes to fill. Both were visually stunning for their time and sounded incredible with scores to really help them to stand out as unique in their space. Tron: Ares (2025) shares those same qualities. While the story for Tron and Tron Legacy wasn't the strongest, the writing, visuals and sound helped make those benchmark films for their time in the Sci-Fi space. Tron: Ares, sadly, will be forgotten with time. It looks great and sounds awesome. But it's got a non existent story with characters whose names you've already forgotten.

Welcome to Episode 50! Thank you so much for listing and watching our humble show. We can not thank you enough. This episode has a special segment where we talk about our favorite films of all time.
Th Smashing Machine - With Dwyane Johnson, Emily Blunt, A Combat sport, and A24- The Smashing Machine seemed like a sure thing, yet is a movie that just doesn't have a payoff and never finds the ingredient that adds excitement or a thrilling element. It just doesn't find the pizzazz it needed, unfortunately.

One Battle After Another - A paranoid father must races to find his daughter, who may be in trouble, after events 16 years ago start to resurface.
Leonardo DiCaprio is still one of the heaviest hitters in Hollywood. And with a wonderful cast with him, this is a well made movie. It's getting the highest scores online, but does it deserve them?

047 - The long Walk, Dir. Francis Lawrence
The Long Walk is a dystopian, post modern Civil War America. Every year each state is represented by a young boy who walks for the grand prize of whatever they want. The cost of victory? The other 49 have to be dead. There s no finish line and no breaks. To fall behind or stop is to be killed.
Par the corse for Stephen King. Mark Hamill (The Major) plays his part beautifully as the guy we love to hate.
Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale (timecode below) finds Lady Mary Talbot and family a year into The Great Depression and rocked with a scandal. It's ore of what we've come to love about the show- excellent writing, brilliant performances, and an old world English charm that keeps us coming back for more. If you're a fan of Downton Abbey, this one will put a smile on your face.

046 - The Conjuring: Last Rites, Dir. Michael Chaves
The Conjuring universe has been going strong for over a decade now. The Warrens have been famous for their insight on Witchcraft and Demonology and have done battle with Annabelle, Valek and many other unsavory demons that haunt our world.
The Conjuring: Last Rites is the 10th movie in the franchise and, so far, has had the strongest opening of them. It's a high recommend to see on the big screen, especially in IMAX.
Let us know in the comments how you felt about it.

045 - Caught Stealing, Dir. Darren Aronofsky
Caught Stealing is okay. It's not the best movie you'll watch this year but not the worst either.
Austin Butler leads the cast as Hank, a guy who missed his chance earlier in his life due to an accident he caused that he still hasn't come to terms with, but when he gets caught up in his neighbors business, he is forced to step up and try to stay one step ahead of everyone after him. Think of any Guy Ritchie movie. Caught Stealing is that movie.
