077 - The Drama, Dir. Kristoffer Borgli
Zendaya and Robert Pattinson. Do you need more reasons to watch this?
It's a dark comedy about a couple, a week before their wedding, hitting a wall, sending their wedding week off the rails. It's light on the comedy but heavy on the dark. But Pattinson and Zendaya are wonderful, as always.

076 - The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Dir. A.Horvath / M.Jelenic / P.Leduc / F.Polack
Mario may be one of the most famous and successful franchises in the world if not THE most famous and recognizable franchises in the world. 2023's The Super Mario Bros. Movie was a smash hit commercially but was pretty critically panned. 2026's The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is, somehow, MORE wanting in the area that matters most in a film- the story. BUT both film are absolutely excellent Mario and Nintendo fan service films for kids. They're bright, colorful, fast paced, and fun. Sometimes, that matters.

075 - Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, Dir. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin / Tyler Gillett
Ready to Not (2019) was a pretty fantastic Dark Comedy / Slasher. It worked well when it probably shouldn't have. Ready or Not 2: Here I Come (2026) is more of the former but, somehow, less potent, and less interesting.

074 - Project Hail Mary, Dir. Phil Lord / Chris Miller
Project Hail Mary is a movie that very much lives up to the hype and, in many ways, exceeds it. It's a wonderful Sci-Fy masterpiece that may define the genre for a while to come. Ryan Gosling is absolutely worth every bit of admission. PHM is as big a win as we have had in 2026 so far. Don't miss it!

Undertone may not be a masterpiece but it is creepy and very effective at what it tries to do- scare the viewer and make them think about what they've just seen and what lies in wait the darkness, both on and off screen. Is that a win? Absolutely.

The 98th Academy Awards! The road leading to them was pretty generic and there really isn't much pizzaz to be found. Is there much to celebrate this year in terms of achievement? What did you think?

Train Dreams (2025, Netflix), Dir. Clint Bentley
Welcome to an episode where we catch up on a best picture nomination we may have missed last year. For this episode- Train Dreams (2025), from Netflix, and all its wonderfully composed shots of the life of a logger and railroad worker in early 20th century America who experiences great and tremendous loss but, in the end, finds the beauty in everything to be found. His journey is one of sadness but also amazing depth. Joel Edgerton alone is worth the watch. Should it have been nominated for best picture? What did you think?

072 - The Bride!, Dir. Maggie Gyllenhaal
From 1931 - 2026, Frankenstein and his Monster have graced the Silver Screen. Frankenstein's Monster is as iconic as any of the Classic monsters in the horror genre. We can go back even further to fin the novel and source material by Mary Shelley in 1818.
2025-2026 has been a good year for the Frankenstein story with a Netflix version nominated for many academy awards and 2026's, The Bride! getting the full treatment of A-list cast and huge budget. But can the huge cast and budget save The Bride!? Unfortunately, no.

071 - Scram 7, Dir. Kevin Williamson
From 1996 - 2026, Scream is a franchise that has found success for 30 years now. Ghost Face is as iconic as any killer in the horror / Slasher genres along with his voice on the phone before his victims die a gruesome death.
2026's Scream 7, while being a mainline entry, could be the weakest installment in the franchise with the reveal of the killer(s) being the most disappointing as there is no real link to the original Woodsboro murders. Is it finally time to just let Scream just exist in the pages of film history?
