184 -Palm Springs(Hulu) and The Lighthouse (On Amazon)
Tuesday Jul 28, 2020
Tuesday Jul 28, 2020
Andy Samberg in a masterpiece of a comedy and Robert Pattinson in HIS masterpiece. Palm Springs is amazing! The Lighthouse is great! It was a good week!
**Sorry for the audio inconsistency**. We will be back to normal next week.
Intro, Roger plays Apex, Juan Dolio is a paradise, Chris's car beaks and he blames Grayson and Merica!
0:03:45 - Trailers - The New Mutants and Bill & Ted Face the Music
0:23:20 - The Lighthouse, Dir. Robert Eggers (AVG 7.5/10)
0:42:35 - Palm Springs, Dir. Max Barbakow (9.5/10)
The Lighthouse - We missed the Lighthouse when it came out in November 2019 but we are sure glad we caught it now while it's FREE on Amazon prime. Robert Eggers has crafted what most call a masterpiece. Black and White, 1.19:1 Aspect ratio, 2 men on an island and an impending madness. It's quite entertaining. Both Pattinson and Dafoe deliver WONDERFUL performances worthy of recognition and your time. Don't miss it. (Avg score 7.5/10)
Palm Springs - This brilliantly crafted comedy romance is just stellar. It's a 10 according to Grayson. One of the best movies of 2020 so far. Andy Samberg is great, but Cristin Milioto just takes the cake. A Groundhog Day kind, but with several interesting twists along the way. If you have Hulu, watch this asap. (9.5/10)
Hosted, produced and mixed by Grayson Maxwell and Roger Stillion. Guest appearrance by Christopher Boughan. Music by Chad Wall. Quality Assurance by Anthony Emmett.

183 -The Old Guard (Netflix) and Greyhound (Apple+)
Tuesday Jul 21, 2020
Tuesday Jul 21, 2020
Immortal mercenaries and the WW2 Battle of the Atlantic this week. Charlize Theron and Tom Hanks. Potent stuff.
Special gues intro, Baby Yoday is adored, Terminator is dead and Roger knows it, Joe talks nerdy and wonderful comic content. Give us a listen this week.
0:11:20 - Box Office
0:11:50 - Upcoming releases
0:15:25 - Trailers - The Boys, Season 2 (Amazon) and Transformers: War for Cybertron, Season 1 (Netflix)
0:33:20 - Greyhound, Dir. Aaron Schneider (6/10)
1:05:15 - The Old Guard, Dir. Gina Prince-Bythewood (7/10)
Greyhound- Tom Hanks, WW2, decent budget- what happened? Those things should have been a recipe for success, but, somehow, came out of the oven ruined. Though Tom Hanks is wonderful, not much else is. Almost as if all the filler was taken out. The Action is commendable but short. (6/10)
The Old Guard- Charlize Theron leads the cast in this better than dcent action adventure. Immortal mercenaries moving through the ages, keeping a lwo profile until now. Pretty great choreogrphy, though has some minor pacing issues and an interesting set of rules to their universe. Already set up for more to come. (7/10)
Hosted, produced and mixed by Grayson Maxwell and Roger Stillion. Guest appearrance by Joseph D. Iacovone. Music by Chad Wall. Quality Assurance by Anthony Emmett.

182 - Hamilton (Disney+) and Irresistible (VOD)
Tuesday Jul 14, 2020
Tuesday Jul 14, 2020
One of the most well received musicals ever to grace the stage and a movie we probably could have done without. An interesting week.
Hamilton is a smash broadway hit. Recorded in 2016 in New York- see what so many people praise and talk about. Excellent performances, wonderful choreography and amazing use of stage space. Is something lost watching it on your TV instead on live?
Irresistible. Steve Carell and Rose Byrne are funny, though Chris Cooper steals the show here, as would be expected. Not much else going on in this one, unfortunately. Chris Cooper fires a mounted machine gun into a lake. Don't miss that!
Intro- Should have played Jaja Ding Dong, Roger on vacation, Ohio heat is terrible!

Tuesday Jul 07, 2020
Tuesday Jul 07, 2020
A wonderful and silly musical treat with Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams and Harry Potter running around with Guns bolted to his hands. What's not to like?
Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga. The "Volcano Man" music video in the beginning sets the tone- Silly yet enjoyable. Rachel McAdams and Pierce Brosnan carry Will Ferrell. Magic elves, wonderful 90's pop parodies, and a sad face sweater. This movie has it all. 6.5/10
Guns Akimbo. Harry Potter with guns bolted to his hands. Are you in? You should be. Miles (Daniel Radcliffe) gets forced into Skizm- a battle royale. This particular one finds Miles with guns bolted to his hands forced to fight another contestant, Nix. Story twists await you. John Wick style. Violence and gore are front and center.
Intro- Jaja Ding Dong plays, America's birthday, Zombie Apocalypse. Grayson would only survive wave 2 of 5 of the outbreak.

180 - Da 5 Bloods (Netflix) and 7500 (Amazon)
Tuesday Jun 30, 2020
Tuesday Jun 30, 2020
Vietnam war revisit and a Pilot's worst nightmare.
Da 5 bloods is absolutely a Spike Lee movie. To the core. Wonderful performances and a somewhat powerful emotional score with somewhat of a payoff. Chadwick Boseman shines as always. 6/10
7500. Another gem hidden in the rough. Joseph Gordon-Levitt gives a wonderful and very powerful performance. The camera never leaves the cockpit during a hijacking. Tension is build beautifully and keeps its presence. 7/10
Intro, Alfalfa arrested, No more movies this summer (Possibly)

0:03:30 - Trailers - The Silencing and The Sunlit Night

179 - The King of Staten Island (VOD) and Artemis Fowl (Disney+)
Tuesday Jun 23, 2020
Tuesday Jun 23, 2020
The King of Staten Island. A charming movies with some really great payoffs in the end. A great emotional center with some great performances and cameos. Pete Davidson is great! Along with Steve Buscemi, Bill Burr and Marisa Tomei. Judd Apatow directs and it shows in a damn good way. Don't miss it! 7/10.
Artemis Fowl. Not great. Not good. Not even decent. One of the worst of 2020 so far. Decent cast of Colin Farrell, Josh Gad and Judy Dench could't save a terrible script from an otherwise okay director. What the hell happened? 1/10.
Intro, Chris and Roger haze Grayson as per usual. Happy Father's day celebration! AMC theater chain to Reopen July 15th!
0:02:15 - Box Office

178 - Becky (VOD) and Shirley (VOD)
Tuesday Jun 16, 2020
Tuesday Jun 16, 2020
Films discussed: Becky (VOD) and Shirley (VOD)
Becky. 13 year old with a bit of a vengeance streak going- and she is doing quite well. Lulu Wilson is Becky. Kevin James as the villain- Dominick. Very much against type and he nails it. Extremely violent film. A guy cuts his eyeball out as it is dangling from his head. Be warned. We liked it. Didn't love it.
Shirley. What is real and what isn't? It's one of those. Well written and Elizabeth Moss is just awesome as Shirley- A famous horror writer who finds inspiration for a new book when a young couple moves in with her and her husband. An Incredibly slow burn. One of us really liked it, the other two did not. Tune in to find out why.
Intro, Chris and Roger haze Grayson as per usual. Chris's legs hurt and why- You never skip leg day. Father's day Candles- Roger makes them. many scents available.
0:03:20 - Box Office, The Wretched is still on top.

177 - The Vast of Night (Amazon) and Capone (VOD)
Tuesday Jun 09, 2020
Tuesday Jun 09, 2020
Films discussed: The Vast of Night (Amazon) and Capone (VOD)
The Vast of Night. Possibly the best movie in a while you've not yet seen. Done in the same style as an episode of The Twilight Zone, it takes place in the 50's. A switchboard operator, Fay, and a budding radio personalty, Everett discover an audio frequency and investigate the accounts of other people who claim to know about it. We LOVED it! it does so many things right. Tune in, listen to us geek out over it.
Not even Tom Hardy can save this. Focusing on the last year of Al Capone's life. His mind is breaking down and has little idea what is real and what is not. Vague and ambiguous is the name of this game. We did not love this one. At all. Tune in. find out why.
Intro, Chris does a shoulder shimmy, movies opening soon and box office vs digital sales.
0:03:28 - Box Office, The Wretched is still on top.

176 - The Lovebirds (Netflix) and Defending Jacob (Apple TV+)
Tuesday Jun 02, 2020
Tuesday Jun 02, 2020
Films discussed: The Lovebirds (Netflix) and Defending Jacob (Apple TV+)
The Lovebirds. Kumail Nanjiani and Issa Rae. Those two are about the best thing you can say about this movie, unfortunately. However, Nanjiani and Rae are pretty amazing in their roles and do have great chemistry. It's the rest of the movie that is lacking. Tune in and find out what we thought. 3.3 Average score of 10.
Defending Jacob certainly did not dissapoint as a way to wrap up a miniseries. Chris Evans, Michelle Dockery and Jaeden Martell are pretty wonderful as the Barber family. Watch the final 2 episodes to see how it wraps up- Andy's decision, Laurie's break and Jacob's continued cold demeanor that fuels the ambiguous nature that remains.
Intro, Chris is back! Movie theater reopening talk.
0:02:33 - Box Office, The Wretched is number 1 for 5 weeks. One of the few.
0:05:28 - Upcoming releases

Tuesday May 26, 2020
Tuesday May 26, 2020
Films discussed: Scoob! (VOD), Bad Education (HBO) and Defending Jacob (Apple TV+)
Scoob! Its absolutely a longer episode of Scooby Doo from ages past. Zac Efron is the surprising star of the show with, of course, Frank Welker as the legendary Voice of Scooby Doo. Will Forte, Mark Wahlberg, Jason Isaacs, Gina Rodriguez, Amanda Seyfried, Ken Jeong, Tracey Morgan, and Simon Cowell join him. Scoob! is just a little better than middle of the road and that is OKAY by us. It has many laughs you will enjoy. Kids will love it.
Bad Education. Hugh Jackman and Allison Janney are just so good. The true story of the Roslyn school district in New York embezzlement situation of millions of dollars. Ray Romano, Geraldine Viswanathan and Annaleigh Ashford join Jackman and Janney. If you still have HBO from GoT, check out Bad Education. Hugh Jackman should never be missed.
Intro, battle hammer and crossbow talk, and Roger Vows to bring his paintball gun to a show soon. Weird?
0:02:45 - Box Office, movie theater theories and predictions.
